What failed-rebuild remediation involves
When an engine arrives that was previously rebuilt by another workshop, we don't assume anything is correct. We carry out a complete, methodical assessment to determine what was done incorrectly and what can be salvaged, then rebuild the engine to full Mercedes-Benz factory specification.
- Visual inspection & strip-down – we remove the engine and fully disassemble it, recording every detail of the previous work.
- Full component measurement – all critical dimensions (bearing clearances, cylinder bore, crankshaft journals, valve guides) are measured against original specifications.
- Salvage vs. replace decision – we identify which parts are still serviceable, which can be re-machined, and which must be replaced.
- Corrective machining & parts sourcing – we carry out any necessary machining (honing, boring, grinding) and source genuine or OEM-quality replacement parts.
- Factory-spec reassembly – every bolt is torqued to the correct angle and setting, with all single-use seals and gaskets replaced.
- Final testing and validation – once reassembled, the engine is tested on the vehicle to confirm oil pressure, temperature stability, and smooth running.
This is not a quick “patch-up” – it is a complete re-engineering of the engine to ensure it meets the durability and performance standards it was designed for.
