Our Turbo & Ancillary Repair Process

We raise the vehicle, disconnect the battery, and drain coolant (where required). We then remove air ducts, undertrays, and insulation to gain full access to the turbocharger.

We disconnect oxygen sensors, exhaust joints, and oil/water lines. The turbo unit is unbolted from the exhaust manifold and carefully removed from the engine bay.

If the actuator or wastegate is faulty, we replace it individually. We also renew all gaskets, seals, and the oil feed/return lines, which are critical for long-term reliability.

We pre-lubricate the new turbo with clean engine oil, then reinstall all components using factory torque specifications. We refill coolant and oil as required.

Using Mercedes-Benz Star Diagnostic (XENTRY), we calibrate the actuator and verify that boost pressure and wastegate operation meet factory parameters.
- 06
We road-test the vehicle under real driving conditions, monitoring boost, response, and engine behaviour. We only hand the car back once everything is perfect.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a Mercedes turbo repair take?+
Most turbocharger and ancillary repairs are completed within 2-4 working days. This includes removal, replacement, calibration, and road testing. Complex “Hot V” engines (e.g. AMG V8) may take longer – we'll advise you when quoting.
Do you replace the oil lines when fitting a new turbo?+
Yes – we always replace both the oil feed and return lines along with all seals and gaskets. This is a critical step to ensure the new turbo receives clean oil and drains properly, preventing premature failure.
Is calibration needed after turbo replacement?+
Yes – for engines with electronic actuators or variable geometry (VGT), we use Mercedes-Benz Star Diagnostic (XENTRY) to perform actuator calibration and reset adaptations. This ensures correct boost control and engine management.
Can you repair just the actuator without replacing the whole turbo?+
In many cases, yes. We can replace the actuator or wastegate components separately, which can save you the cost of a full turbo replacement. We'll advise on the most cost-effective option after inspection.
Do you work on AMG biturbo engines?+
Yes – we have extensive experience with AMG M157, M177, and M178 V8 biturbo engines, including the complex “Hot V” layout. We have the specialised tools and knowledge to perform these repairs to the highest standard.
