Mercedes GLC350e Oil Leaks & Coolant System Wear (M256 I6)
The M256 is a sophisticated 3.0-litre inline-six with an integrated starter-generator and electric auxiliary compressor — a more modern and efficient design than the older M276 V6. We replace timing chains, bearings, water pump and gaskets as standard on every M256 rebuild.
Because the GLC350E uses a completely different engine family from the V8 M178 fitted to the GLC-Class 63 and GT 63 S, parts and rebuild specifications don't cross over between them.

ABOUT THE MERCEDES GLC350E ENGINE
The GLC350e has been part of the GLC-Class range since 2020, spanning two generations as a plug-in hybrid variant. The earlier X253 generation uses the M274 — a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine paired with a 13.5kWh electric motor and battery. From the X254 generation onwards (2025), the GLC350e switched to the M254, a newer 2.0-litre four-cylinder unit with mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid integration, offering an electric-only range of up to 54 miles in its latest form. The GLC350e was discontinued in X253 form but returned for the X254 generation as a 2025 model-year addition.

A 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine fitted to the GLC350e from 2020 to 2022, during the X253 generation. It was paired with a 13.5kWh battery and electric motor as part of the plug-in hybrid system.
