Mercedes Vito 114 CDI Injector Seal & Timing Chain Wear (Early W447, OM651)
If your Vito 114 CDI is an early W447 model with the OM651 diesel engine — that's roughly 2014 to 2024 production — injector seal leaks and timing chain wear are a well-documented pattern on this engine. We replace injector seals, timing chain components and gaskets as standard on every OM651 rebuild.
The current W447 refresh from 2025 onwards uses a different engine, the OM654, which doesn't share this specific issue — it's a newer design with its own characteristics. We still service it to the same standard as the OM651.

ABOUT THE MERCEDES VITO 114 CDI ENGINE
The Vito 114 CDI has been part of the Vito range since the W447 generation launched in 2014, and across its production run has used two distinct diesel engines. Early W447 models (2014 to around 2024) use the OM651 — a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel shared across a wide range of Mercedes commercial and passenger models of that era. From the 2025 refresh onwards, the Vito 114 CDI switched to the OM654, a newer 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel that's a different unit entirely, not an evolution of the OM651. Knowing which one your van has matters, because the components, the known wear pattern, and even the rebuild specifics differ between them — which is exactly why we confirm your exact engine by registration before quoting.

The current 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel, fitted to the refreshed W447 from 2025 onwards. A newer design from the OM651, with its own characteristics — not independently confirmed for specific wear patterns in this application, but we service it to the same standard as our other Vito rebuilds.
